Job Title: Director of SalesOrganization: Destination Missoula and Missoula Tourism Business Improvement DistrictReports To: Executive DirectorEmployment Type: Full-Time, ExemptLocation: Missoula, MontanaPosition Summary:Destination Missoula (DM) and the Missoula Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales to lead and execute strategic sales initiatives that promote Missoula as a premier leisure and group travel destination. This leadership role is responsible for developing and managing sales strategies focused on increasing leisure travel, meetings, conventions, sports, and group tour business to the region. The Director of Sales will cultivate key partnerships, both locally and beyond, and represent Missoula at trade shows and industry events.Core Responsibilities:Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with Destination Missoula/TBID’s mission and strategic goals.Lead a small sales team, setting performance objectives, providing mentorship, and evaluating results on a quarterly basis.Conduct annual employment review for department staff.Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including conventions, meetings, sporting events, group tours, and international travel.Maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including hotels, attractions, and event venues, to foster collaboration and package offerings.Represent Destination Missoula at industry trade shows, conferences, and events.Coordinate and conduct site tours and familiarization tours (FAMs) for meeting and event planners, showcasing facilities and attractions in the city.Collaborate with the Marketing Committee and the ad agency of record to ensure the alignment of promotional efforts with sales objectives.Create and manage the TBID and department budget.Track, analyze, and report on key sales metrics, market trends, and ROI to the Executive Director, Board of Directors and stakeholders.Administer the CRM and sales databases to manage accounts and leads, analyze data, run reports, and generally oversee the systems.Oversee the TBID Grant Program.Serve as an ambassador for Missoula, promoting the region's unique offerings and lifestyle.Any other duties and responsibilities as deemed by the Executive Director.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, hospitality, or a related field or minimum 5-7 years of sales experience, preferably in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry.Proven track record of successful team leadership and business development.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. This position requires public speaking.Strong organizational, analytical, and time management abilities.Proficiency in CRM and project management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace. Ability to travel regularly for trade shows and industry events, which may require overnight, after-hours and weekend work.Valid US Passport and driver’s license required.Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with Missoula and the surrounding region.Experience working with DMOs, CVBs, or similar organizations.Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud programs or other marketing/design applications and industry research tools.Compensation and Benefits:Competitive salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 DOE.Fully paid medical, dental and vision insurance as well as short and long-term disability insurance. Medical and dependent care flex spending accounts.15 days PTO at start of employment with increases based on longevity.11 paid holidays (12 in statewide election years).Partial cell phone reimbursement and parking pass.Simple IRA retirement matching plan at 3% (eligible after 1 year of employment).A collaborative, mission-driven team environment.Physical Demands:The employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear.The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.The employee must be able to drive, travel by plane and other modes of public transportation, and handle extensive hours of travel. The organization is a 501c6 non-profit and works in concert with the Missoula Tourism Business Improvement District at the direction of the two boards of directors.
