Description
Job Summary Under the supervision of the Recreation Program Manager, the Desk Attendant is responsible for greeting and providing the public with information, both in person and over the phone; receiving registration and facility rentals; specific program maintenance and enforcing the rules of usage in West Ridge Center. The Employee should possess good interpersonal skills and be comfortable working independently.
Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties Includes, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Responsible for customer service and customer relations. Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner when entering and exiting the building, attend to their needs and direct them to the proper office or classroom. •Assist patrons with West Ridge Center Park District information. •Enforce rules and proper usage of the West Ridge Center facility. •Open and close the facility as scheduled. •Maintain an attractive reception area. •Answer the telephone and respond appropriately to requests for information and relay messages. •Assist in the maintenance of master schedule for West Ridge Center programs, rentals, and picnic permits for parks. •Operate office machines including computers, printer, copy machine and voicemail. •Conduct monetary transactions as needed. •Assist in maintenance of office supplies and keep necessary Park District forms on hand. •Process transfers, refunds and other registration procedures as requested. •Use the Park District registration system to advise registrants of closed or canceled classes as needed. •Provide positive and professional communication with customers. •Report any problems, unsafe conditions, behavior issues and accidents to the Recreation Manager. •Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience H.S. Diploma or GED along with related college coursework and/or equivalent experience in childcare, education, recreation or related program is required. Stellar classroom management and communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely present ideas and concepts and tailor communication to multiple audiences. Must have the proven ability to establish constructive relationships and interact as a positive role model for youth and staff demonstrating the values of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty. Energetic, driven, creative and dependable professional with demonstrated leadership skills is a plus.

Wage Range: $18.50-$18.50 per hour

Working Conditions: Work usually takes place in clean, pleasant and comfortable indoor conditions. However, while performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed slightly disagreeable conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
