Responsibilities include a variety of light and heavy park/lake maintenance at both Lake Reidsville and Lake Hunt. Hours will vary with seasons. This is a year-round position, but the work load is heavier in the summer, and lighter in the winter. Hours worked during different seasons can vary substantially. Position will be required to work weekdays, weekends, and nights. Position will also be expected to work on the date of the annual Independence Day celebration at Lake Reidsville.
Tasks cover light maintenance responsibilities but not limited to the following: raking, stocking and cleaning bathrooms, mowing, grounds beautification, installation of mulch, planting in plant beds, weeding plant beds, weed-eating, painting and irrigation.
Heavy maintenance includes but not limited to: tree removal, disc golf course maintenance, repairs to facilities and equipment, etc.
The employee in this position must have some knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in general labor work.
Employee must possess the ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Employee must possess a working knowledge of the methods and techniques applied in general labor work.
- Possess a working knowledge of the standard practices, material, tools, and equipment utilized in the area of assigned work.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.
- Valid NC driver's license
Physical Demands
Work in this class is described as moderately strenuous using a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects and may occasionally require some physical exertion to complete tasks. An employee must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. The employee is subject to both environmental conditions inside and outside. The employee is subject to hazards, occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of electrical shock, oils and vibration.
