Position Overview

The University of Minnesotas Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Board Certified / Board-eligible psychiatrist for an Academic Track faculty Psychiatry Consult Liaison position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The position includes:

  1. Approximately 0.80 clinical FTE as an inpatient psychiatrist consulting with inpatient units at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.
  2. 0.20 FTE dedicated to academic activities such as research, publishing, mentoring, quality improvement, and other scholarly duties.

Clinical Responsibilities

This role involves collaborating with licensed mental health professionals and psychiatrists to provide in-person and virtual psychiatric consultations across various medical specialties within a hospital setting. The faculty member may be based at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and provide telemedicine coverage for other hospitals in the M Health Fairview system. Typical caseload involves seeing 6 to 8 patients per day, working with a team of providers, and coordinating coverage schedules.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Psychiatry residency and Consult Liaison fellowship training program.
  • Board eligible or certified by the ABPN.
  • Licensed or able to obtain medical license and DEA in Minnesota, with credentials for privileges.
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the U.S. and maintain legal status under VISA requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

The position is jointly employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Salary ranges from $224,256 to $310,002, depending on experience and academic effort.
