Why does the job exist?
To provide routine maintenance and assure a safe environment for residents in a secure facility.
How does it get done?
This position will perform maintenance tasks such as carpentry, heating and cooling systems, boiler operations, painting, grounds keeping, interpreting blueprints and performing routine maintenance for a residential treatment center.
Who are the customers?
Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males age 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression
Ideal Candidate
Will have experience: Performing routine building maintenance.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of experience in general building and grounds maintenance, custodial duties, construction, or appliance repair. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Employment is subject to criminal background check pursuant to NM Caregivers Criminal Screening Act (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC), and is conditional pending results. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training is required.
Working Conditions
This position will perform work at the Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center, both indoors and outdoors. Some standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting a minimum of one hundred (100) pounds with assistance may be required. Position may be required to work shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and call back hours as needed.
