Column Technical Services is seeking a skilled and motivated
Maintenance Technician to join our client's production team in Itasca, IL. This individual will be responsible for repairing, inspecting, and performing preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems. The ideal candidate possesses strong root-cause troubleshooting abilities, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to seeing each task through to completion. Primary Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair malfunctioning production equipment or systems Comfortable with electrical wiring, using conduits, and maintaining machines Support and configure PLCs, PLC panels, and PLC upgrades as needed. Conduct routine inspections and ensure equipment is safe and operational Install control and distribution components (e.g., switches, relays, circuit-breaker panels) Connect power cables and grounding leads to equipment such as motors and ranges Execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans Perform visual and diagnostic testing on machinery and equipment Dismantle faulty equipment and install repaired or replacement parts Clean and lubricate machinery including shafts, bearings, and gears Support upkeep of facility infrastructure and physical structure and general building maintenance Complete additional duties as assigned by management. Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in a maintenance role within a fast-paced setting Education:
High School diploma or GED required Preferred:
Technical degree plus 4+ years of experience in machine maintenance in a manufacturing environment OR Electronics degree with 2+ years of relevant experience Experience using a Forklift
Skills:
Proficient in reading blueprints and electrical layouts Strong troubleshooting and mechanical capabilities Excellent verbal and written communication Able to manage multiple priorities under pressure Demonstrates attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety Works well both independently and within a team

Must be willing and available to work any shift Overtime and weekend availability required
