Position Summary
The Division of Student Affairs at Texas Wesleyan University equips students with essential skills for their future careers. In the TXWES Esports & Gaming Department, we do this by uniting with our students to transform their passions into workplace-ready skills in a supportive, engagement-based community on the path to educational and personal success. The Graphic Designer is a student employee role supporting both the TXWES Esports & Gaming program and the broader Division of Student Affairs (DoSA). This position plays a key role in elevating the university's digital presence by designing visually compelling graphics for social media, events, and branded content. Under the supervision of professional staff, the Graphic Designer ensures that all visual content is consistent, polished, and strategically aligned with department messaging.
This role provides hands-on experience in graphic design, digital communication, and brand development. You'll build a personal portfolio, gain experience collaborating on real-world projects, and contribute to campaigns that impact the campus community. Whether you're pursuing a career in marketing, media, esports, or higher education, this role will help you develop the creative and collaborative skills needed to thrive. You'll also have access to professional-grade design tools in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite to help bring your ideas to life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design static and motion graphics for digital and print use, including flyers, social posts, overlays, and event materials. Create thumbnails, banners, and stream graphics for YouTube, Twitch, and other content platforms. Collaborate with the Social Media Coordinator and Short-Form Specialist to maintain visual brand consistency across all platforms. Develop graphic assets for use in video content, slide decks, and on-campus event screens. Support graphic design needs for a variety of departments and student organizations within the Division of Student Affairs. Maintain organized design files and ensure timely delivery of materials. Monitor and incorporate emerging design trends in esports, gaming, and campus life marketing. Assist with on-campus events by creating signage, supporting event promotion, and capturing visual assets when needed. Uphold University policies, maintain confidentiality, and comply with FERPA guidelines. Adapt to shifting priorities in a creative, fast-paced environment. Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong interest in building real-world design experience and growing in a creative role. Familiarity with esports, gaming, digital culture, and/or campus life. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Photoshop, Illustrator) and/or Canva. Basic knowledge of layout design, typography, and color theory. Understanding of image resolution and sizing for various platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.). Ability to take direction and revise designs based on feedback. Strong organization, time management, and independent problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. You do not need to consider yourself a gamer to succeed in this role. What matters most is a willingness to learn, contribute to a team, and support a vibrant and active student community.
