JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Manager plays a critical leadership role in supporting USALCOs corporate Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) strategy. This individual is responsible for leading the implementation of standardized, proactive, and sustainable maintenance practices at the site level that align with USALCOs M&R roadmap.

This position ensures the safety, efficiency, and reliability of production assets by overseeing maintenance operations, coaching the site maintenance team, and collaborating cross-functionally. The Maintenance Manager is accountable for executing the sites preventive maintenance strategy, managing the work order process in the CMMS, monitoring key KPIs, and supporting Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) deployment.

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager at the site and maintains a dotted-line (indirect) reporting relationship with the Corporate Maintenance & Reliability Manager to ensure alignment with company-wide M&R standards and initiatives.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBITIES:

1. Leadership and Development:

Lead the site maintenance team, including mechanical, electrical, and I&E technicians, in line with USALCOs skills matrix and training programs.

Build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement through coaching, mentorship, and team development.

Promote and model safety leadership and adherence to SHE&Q standards.

Supervise and coordinate the work of both in-house maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of maintenance activities.

2. Preventive Maintenance & Asset Care:

Own the execution and optimization of the sites Preventive Maintenance (PM) program based on standardized PMs developed corporately.

Drive compliance and completion of PM work orders; partner with operators where applicable for autonomous maintenance practices.

Actively identify opportunities to reduce reactive maintenance and extend asset life.

3. Work Management Process (WMP) & CMMS:

Manage the sites work order process using the MaintainX CMMS, including request intake, prioritization, scheduling, execution, and closure.

Ensure quality work order data (failure codes, time tracking, root causes, etc.) to support asset performance analysis.

Coordinate weekly scheduling meetings with site leadership to review backlog, priorities, and resourcing.

4. Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:

Lead weekly planning and scheduling processes in alignment with site production demands and M&R strategy.

Ensure all scheduled work is executed efficiently and documented accurately.

Support job plan development for critical and repeatable tasks.

5. Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

Track and report site-level M&R KPIs (e.g., PM Compliance, Work Order Closeout Time, MTBF, MTTR, % Reactive vs. Proactive Work).

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and lead corrective action initiatives to improve equipment reliability and uptime.

Provide weekly updates on maintenance performance and improvements as part of corporate reporting.

6. Budget & Cost Control:

Manage the site maintenance budget, including labor, parts, contract services, and capital replacement needs.

Identify cost-saving opportunities through improved planning, reliability improvements, and vendor management.

Ensure responsible use of resources and alignment with site financial goals.

Collaboration & Strategy Alignment:

Work closely with Plant Leadership, Corporate M&R, SHE&Q, Engineering, Projects, and CI teams to align maintenance work with site and company priorities.

Participate in corporate M&R network activities to share best practices, adopt new standards, and support multi-site initiatives.

Year 1 Success Metrics:

To ensure a successful transition into the role and alignment with USALCOs corporate Maintenance & Reliability vision, the following key outcomes should be collaboratively achieved within the first 12 months:

Leadership & Culture

Maintenance team roles, responsibilities, and expectations clearly defined and communicated.

Skills matrix implemented and development plans initiated for all maintenance personnel.

A culture of ownership and proactive maintenance reinforced through coaching and team engagement.

2. Maintenance Program Assessment

Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current maintenance practices, staffing, tools, PMs, and inventory management to identify gaps and prioritize improvement opportunities.

Present findings and recommendations to site and corporate M&R leadership to align local practices with USALCOs Maintenance & Reliability roadmap.

3, Preventive Maintenance Execution

Full implementation of standardized PMs for critical assets in alignment with corporate guidance.

PM completion rate sustained above target (e.g., >90%) with reduced overdue work.

Increase in proactive vs. reactive work ratio and improved asset uptime.

4. Work Management Process (WPM) & CMMS Use

All maintenance work flowing through the CMMS with consistent use of failure codes, comments, and accurate time tracking.

Weekly scheduling meetings established and held consistently with site stakeholders.

Work order backlog reduced to healthy levels with improved schedule compliance.

5. Asset Reliability & continuous Improvement

Site-specific asset health data used to identify top downtime drivers and initiate corrective actions.

Root cause analysis (RCA) completed for all major unplanned events.

Maintenance KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, OEE, etc.) tracked and regularly reported; trends used to drive reliability improvements.

6. Budget Management & Cost Control

Annual maintenance budget developed, monitored, and managed within target.

Emergency/rush spending reduced through improved planning and inventory alignment.

Vendor contracts and external support aligned with site needs and cost expectations.

7. Collaboration & Strategic Alignment

Maintenance priorities aligned with production, safety, and engineering objectives through active participation in site leadership meetings.

Demonstrated contribution to corporate M&R initiatives (standardization, TPM, training, etc.).

Engaged in corporate M&R network to share insights, adopt best practices, and support multi-site progress.

Minimum Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in industrial settings.

Hands-on experience with CMMS (MaintainX ).

Proven ability to manage maintenance budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead, coach, and develop maintenance personnel in alignment with a skills matrix.

Strong interpersonal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and specs.

Familiarity with TPM, RCM, or other reliability-focused methodologies.

Demonstrated experience using key maintenance KPIs to drive performance (e.g., PM compliance, MTBF, MTTR).

Ability to lead or facilitate planning meetings and job scope discussions.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required.

: Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical), Maintenance Management, or related technical field.

: Certification in Maintenance & Reliability (e.g., CMRP, CMM, SMRP).

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or operations within an industrial manufacturing environment.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance leadership or supervisory role.

Minimum of 2 years of experience with CMMS systems, maintenance operations, or asset management

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and mechanical integrity programs (where applicable).

: Continuous Improvement activities such as LEAN; 5S; Six Sigma; etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Ability to:

Work in an industrial environment, including machinery and variable plant conditions.

Traverse equipment areas including ladders, steps, elevated walkways, and hot environments.

Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on-site.

Facilitate and lead cross-functional meetings to align priorities and coordinate maintenance execution.

Be flexible with work hours to meet operational demands.
