Description

Cook Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Use cooking techniques including but not limited to turning or stirring food, baking, roasting, broiling or steaming, washing, peeling, cutting, seeding fruits and vegetables, and carving/trimming meat. Clean, cut and cook meat, fish or poultry. Cook foodstuffs according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served. Clean and inspect kitchen equipment and appliances and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing them with utensils. Store and label leftovers. Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures. Take inventory of supplies and equipment. Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature. Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food handling practices. Direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals. Other duties as assigned. Supports and abides by the mission, values, and policies of CHCS in all activities. On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements. All other duties as required. Aide

Receive and complete instructions/directions from Cook. Prepare patient trays according to the menu extensions (proper serving sizes and therapeutic diet orders). Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas. Take and record temperature of dish machine and ensure compliance with regulations. Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving. Mix ingredients for green salads, molded fruit salads, vegetable salads, and pasta salads. Notify supervisor or cook of shortages or special needs. Clean and organize eating, service, and kitchen areas. Wash dishes and utensils used for preparing food. Participates in performance improvement activities. Supports and abides by the mission, values, and policies of CHCS in all activities. On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements. All other duties as required.
