LEAD Payroll Analyst Canada (Alberta and Quebec) & U.S. Focus

$80,000 base + 2% Bonus and cell phone allowance Benefits:
401(k) with 50% match up to 7%, with PTO and medical benefits Reports directly to : Director of Payroll ****** Travel to Canada twice a year is necessary! ************ Ideal Candidate Profile: Holds a payroll certification such as
CPP, FPC, PCP, or CPM
(preferred but not required). Has
35 years of payroll experience
with a focus on
Canadian payroll , particularly in
Alberta and Quebec . Experience in Canadian payroll for a
biweekly, exempt and non-exempt workforce
of approximately
525 employees . Has served in a
lead analyst capacity
and is looking to grow into a
leadership role . Strong understanding of the
Canadian year-end payroll process
is essential. Role breakdown:
75% U.S.-based team support ,
25% Canadian payroll support . Have previously worked with payroll systems like ADP, Ceridian, or similar. Will serve as a key
support to the Canadian payroll processor , with the intent to
eventually manage that position . Must possess
deep knowledge of payroll compliance
across
Federal, State, Local (U.S.)
and
Canadian provincial regulations . A solid grasp of
Canadian payroll laws and practices
is critical for success in this role Travel to Canada will be twice a year for 4 days (2 days travel days and 2 days onsite for each trip. They will support Canada Payroll Team 50-75% and then the remainder supporting the US Payroll Team (team of 4) DUTIES: Accurately process wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits in line with U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations. Prepare and file required payroll reports (e.g., W-2s, W-4s, T4s, ROEs, T2200s, WCB, and tax remittances). Maintain up-to-date payroll records, including timekeeping, leave balances, and benefit details. Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian labor laws and tax regulations. Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies with internal departments. Address employee payroll-related inquiries promptly and professionally. REQUIRED: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field. 35 years of payroll experience, including 2+ years with Canadian payroll. Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll laws and regulations (CRA, CPP, EI, provincial taxes). Experience with payroll systems like ADP, Ceridian, or similar. Skilled in Excel; familiarity with multi-province payroll is a plus. Payroll certifications (CPP, FPC, PCP, or CPM) preferred.
