The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for managing contracts and related personnel actions for certified staff, including teachers, principals, administrators, and special education administrators. This role involves preparing contracts, determining salary and benefits, maintaining salary records, managing calendars/schedules, processing contract extensions, preparing letters of agreement, handling employment paperwork and onboarding, managing teacher lane advancements, and maintaining personnel files. The position requires strong collaboration with principals, department leaders, and other staff members to ensure smooth personnel processes.

DUTIES:

Contracts:

Prepare contracts for certified staff, determine salary schedule placement and benefit eligibility based on negotiated agreements for new staff. Maintain Salary History database. Calendars/Schedules:

Request, manage, and verify calendars for teachers and assistant principals. Work closely with principals to verify schedules. Verify and process requests for contract extensions for teachers. Waivers/Letters:

Prepare waivers of continuing contract rights; draft letters of agreement for teachers and certified miscellaneous casual hourly workers. Employment Paperwork/Onboarding:

Process all employment-related documentation for certified staff, including onboarding paperwork, and maintain personnel files. Teacher Lane Advancement:

Receive, calculate, process, and approve lane advancement requests from teachers. Prepare documents and electronic files for payroll processing. Contract Settlements:

Collaborate with Labor Relations and Benefits to implement newly approved contract settlements. Other duties as assigned : Perform additional responsibilities to support the Employee Services Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent. Strong ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently in a professional and timely manner. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels while treating others with dignity and respect. Strong math aptitude and analytical skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Access). Ability to work under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods. Understanding of the impact of human resources work on the overall operations of the district. Ability to maintain consistent and reliable attendance, including completing an assigned day. Ability to perform all position responsibilities. Must be physically present and working in the building.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Background in Accounting. Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. 2 or more years of experience working in a school district or educational setting. Experience in Human Resources, preferably in a school or public-sector environment.

Rate of Pay:

$26.84/ hr to $35.13/ hr DOE. HR Generalists who have or obtain an Associate of Arts/Science degree or an equivalent number of credits applicable towards a bachelor's degree (60 semester or 90 quarter credits) will receive an additional $1.00 per hour. HR Generalists who have or obtain a bachelor's degree will receive an additional $1.50 per hour. There will be no stacking of Certificates and Degrees. The highest level of pay will be applied.
