The
HR/Payroll Generalist
plays a critical role in supporting the human resources functions within a retail environment. This role is responsible for assisting mostly with Payroll for around 300 employees with recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, We are specifically seeking local area candidates as this role requires the individual to work onsite at the company's office location.
Responsibilities: Recruitment and Staffing: Manage end to-end recruitment process for retail positions (e.g., sales associates, cashiers, store managers). Post job openings, screen resumes, conduct interviews, and support hiring managers in selection. Coordinate new hire onboarding, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and employees are integrated smoothly into the company. Employee Relations:
Act as a liaison between management and employees to resolve conflicts and ensure a positive work environment. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on performance related issues, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation. Promote employee engagement and foster a culture of inclusivity and respect. Compensation and Benefits:
Support the administration of employee benefits programs (e.g., health insurance, retirement plans) and ensure employees are informed about available benefits. Assist with payroll related tasks, including timekeeping and resolving discrepancies. Provide compensation data analysis and market benchmarking to help ensure competitive pay practices HR Administrative Support:
Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Prepare and process HR documentation such as offer letters, termination paperwork, and internal transfers. Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2+ years of HR experience, ideally within a retail or customer facing industry. Previous experience processing payroll using ADP WFN Knowledge of HR laws, policies, and best practices (e.g., employee relations, compliance, and labor laws). Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast paced retail environment. Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic HR tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving employee issues.
Compensation:
$70,000 to $75,000 annually Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
