Job Description

Position Overview:

We’re seeking an experienced and business-minded lawyer to join our legal team. This individual will be instrumental in driving legal strategy across the organization while serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership and business unit leaders. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist with subject matter expertise in consumer finance, legal acumen, exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the confidence to lead cross-functional teams through complex legal and business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Strategy & Business Partnership:

Support the Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel in providing strategic legal guidance, offering practical solutions aligned with company goals in a fast-paced consumer financial environment.

HR & Employment Law Support:

Advise on employment matters including performance management, workplace investigations, terminations, policy development, and compliance with labor laws. Act as a legal partner to HR.

Vendor & Contract Management:

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, focusing on vendor agreements, technology contracts, and service arrangements. Develop templates and standards for efficiency and risk mitigation.

Consumer Privacy:

Ensure compliance with privacy laws such as GLBA, GDPR, CCPA. Provide guidance on privacy matters to teams across the company, supporting risk assessment and mitigation.

Intellectual Property:

Manage and monitor the company's intellectual property, including trademarks and service marks.

Cross-Functional Legal Support:

Collaborate with various teams to identify legal risks, support transactions, and ensure legal compliance.

Regulatory Experience:

Support legal work related to regulations, interpret laws, and help update policies to stay compliant with consumer financial laws.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

At least 8 years of legal experience, with 2-3 years in-house preferred.

Experience in consumer financial services or a regulated industry.

Proven ability to work across legal and HR domains.

Strong contract negotiation skills.

Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting to senior leaders.

Knowledge of HTML and IronClad is a plus.

Ability to work independently and lead legal projects.
