Job Description
Position Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced and business-minded lawyer to join our legal team. This individual will be instrumental in driving legal strategy across the organization while serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership and business unit leaders. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist with subject matter expertise in consumer finance, legal acumen, exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the confidence to lead cross-functional teams through complex legal and business decisions.
How you’ll make an impact:
Legal Strategy & Business Partnership:
Support the Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel in providing strategic legal guidance. Offer practical legal solutions aligned with the company’s goals in a fast-paced, consumer financial environment.
HR & Employment Law Support:
Advise on employment matters including performance management, workplace investigations, terminations, policy development, and compliance with labor laws. Act as a legal partner to HR.
Vendor & Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, technology contracts, and service arrangements. Develop templates and negotiation standards.
Consumer Privacy:
Ensure compliance with privacy laws like GLBA, GDPR, CCPA. Provide guidance on privacy matters to teams involved in product development, marketing, and security.
Intellectual Property:
Manage and monitor the company's intellectual property, including trademarks and service marks.
Cross-Functional Legal Support:
Collaborate with various teams to identify legal risks, support transactions, and ensure compliance.
Regulatory Experience:
Support legal work related to regulations, interpret laws, and update policies to ensure compliance with consumer financial laws.
What you’ll need to succeed:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Minimum of 8 years post-law school experience, with 2-3 years in-house legal counsel preferred.
Experience in consumer financial services or similar regulated industry.
Experience supporting HR functions and managing vendor/contracts.
Excellent communication skills, ability to present to senior leaders.
Knowledge of HTML and IronClad is a plus.
Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional projects.
