About the Opportunity Networks Connect is conducting a search on behalf of our client, a prominent healthcare system , for a detail-oriented and mission-driven
Prior Authorization Coordinator . This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading patient access team and play a key role in facilitating timely, barrier-free access to healthcare services. In this role, you will help patients navigate complex insurance authorizations, eliminate financial roadblocks, and ensure all necessary clearances are in place before care is delivered. You'll collaborate with physicians, payors, and patients serving as a critical bridge between clinical and financial operations. Key Responsibilities Insurance & Authorization Management Obtain, review, and submit prior authorizations and referrals before services are rendered Resolve coordination of benefits (COB) issues to prevent claim denials or delays Partner with referring physicians, payors, and internal departments to verify coverage and secure required approvals Use systems like Cerner, Experian, or payer portals to manage verification workflows Contact patients to confirm insurance information and communicate coverage details Educate patients on their financial responsibility, co-pays, deductibles, and in/out-of-network impacts Act as a liaison between patients, care teams, and legal/financial teams to remove custodial and logistical barriers Identify and refer patients who need payment assistance or financial counseling Documentation & Workflow Optimization Ensure accurate, timely entry of payor data, pre-authorizations, and benefit verifications in EMRs Review clinical documentation to minimize peer-to-peer review needs and streamline care access Collaborate with Nurse Navigators to proactively resolve delays in treatment scheduling Participate in team efforts to meet departmental productivity, quality, and service benchmarks Qualifications Education: Required:
High School Diploma or GED Experience: Required:
2+ years of experience in healthcare access, billing, insurance verification, or claims processing Strong knowledge of insurance terminology, government and commercial payor guidelines Preferred: Experience with EMR systems such as Cerner or Experian Bilingual abilities are a plus Skills & Attributes Excellent verbal communication and professional phone presence Ability to multitask and remain detail-oriented in high-volume settings Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality best practices Why This Role Stands Out This is more than just an insurance coordination job it’s a
