Role Summary We're looking for a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to support and secure a small but growing regional IT environment for a public agency in the Tahoe area. You'll be responsible for core network infrastructure, endpoint protection, and system hardening—with an emphasis on preventative monitoring, risk mitigation, and real-time response.
Responsibilities
Manage and configure network infrastructure: switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN Perform regular vulnerability scans and system audits Support virus and malware protection systems across the enterprise Maintain spam filtering and content controls Monitor logs and alerts, escalate as needed Provide technical input on system upgrades and network security planning Collaborate with system admins and third-party vendors to maintain compliance Required Qualifications
5+ years experience in network engineering and information security Deep understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and antivirus tools Experience working in mixed Windows/cloud environments (Azure, Microsoft 365) Strong documentation and reporting skills Ability to be on-site in Stateline, NV periodically Preferred Certifications
CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or similar Familiarity with public sector or transportation agency environments Pay Range $65–$90/hr
