Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina is a network of eight tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter schools educating approximately 3,000 students in grades K-12 across Durham, Halifax, Northampton, and Mecklenburg counties. This belief drives our work, and we are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Chief Operating Officer to lead our Operations Team statewide in operational excellence. Qualifications 10+ years of progressive operational management experience in growing organizations, including line management in areas such as operations, compliance, transportation, technology, data analytics, school nutrition, student enrollment, or facilities. Previous experience in K-12 schools or education is required, with robust knowledge of public education reform initiatives and the charter school movement. Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred. Significant team management experience (5-10 years), including coaching and supporting top performers and developing managers. Strong commitment to continuous improvement, results-orientation, and decision-making in the best interest of students, balancing external constraints. Ability to lead teams toward ambitious goals with a focus on excellence. Experience building partnerships and influencing stakeholders to support student success. Excellent prioritization skills, flexibility, and adaptability in uncertain environments. Proven ability to develop and manage business systems supporting regional growth. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under pressure, managing multiple projects and deadlines. Salary range between $145,000 and $160,000, plus comprehensive benefits including health care, retirement, and a laptop. Location:

Hybrid role with in-person and remote work, requiring travel between Charlotte, Durham, and Halifax/Gaston. The COO must reside in North Carolina, preferably in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill. The physical demands include: Frequent travel across North Carolina (50-75%). Occasional weekend and evening work. Travel for conferences and professional development. Possible in-office or school-based days each week.
