Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina is a network of eight tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter schools educating approximately 3,000 students in grades K-12 across Durham, Halifax, Northampton, and Mecklenburg counties. Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive operational management experience in growing organizations, including line management in areas such as operations, compliance, transportation, technology, data analytics, school nutrition, student enrollment, or facilities.
- Previous experience in K-12 schools or education is required, with robust knowledge of public education reform initiatives and the charter school movement.
- Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred.
- Significant team management experience (5-10 years), including coaching and supporting top performers and developing managers.
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement, results-orientation, and decision-making in the best interest of students, balancing external constraints.
- Ability to lead teams toward ambitious goals with a focus on excellence.
- Experience building partnerships and influencing stakeholders to support student success.
- Excellent prioritization skills, flexibility, and adaptability in uncertain environments.
- Proven ability to develop and manage business systems supporting regional growth.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under pressure, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Additional Information
Compensation: Salary range between $145,000 and $160,000, plus comprehensive benefits including health care, retirement, and a laptop.
Location: Hybrid role with in-person and remote work, requiring travel between Charlotte, Durham, and Halifax/Gaston. The COO must reside in North Carolina, preferably in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill.
The physical demands include:
- Frequent travel across North Carolina (50-75%).
- Occasional weekend and evening work.
- Travel for conferences and professional development.
- Possible in-office or school-based days each week.
