Kinsale Insurance is seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented Desktop Support Specialist to join our growing IT team onsite in Richmond, Virginia. As a specialty lines insurance provider operating within the Excess & Surplus lines segment, Kinsale underwrites a wide range of Property, Casualty, and Specialty insurance products. This role provides hands-on experience with device management, system updates, imaging, and collaborative IT operations.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support via phone, email, chat, and in-person interactions
- Create and manage helpdesk tickets; track issues through resolution
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors for problem resolution
- Deploy and maintain desktop/laptop systems and peripherals
- Support system imaging, updates, and ongoing maintenance
- Evaluate and test new hardware/software versions and recommend upgrades
- Participate in an on-call rotation for remote support during evenings and weekends
- Adhere to established policies regarding change management, asset tracking, and information security
- Maintain documentation of procedures and resolutions
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, relevant certifications, or equivalent work experience
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office, and desktop support tools
- Experience with Active Directory, WSUS, SCCM, Intune, PDQ, or similar management platforms
- Familiarity with network technologies (DNS, DHCP, NSlookup) and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
- Basic understanding of MacOS, Linux, and telephone systems; Intermediate MacOS experience is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., route cables, and position equipment in office environments
