THIS POSITION REQUIRES FULL-TIME, ON-SITE PRESENCE IN SANTA FE.

The New Mexico E-911 Bureau (NM911) of the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) Local Government Division (LGD) provides fiscal and technical program support to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and Local Governments through communication, collaboration, and customer service to enable an effective and quality 911 system. The vision of New Mexico 911 is to provide a best-in-class 911 system, utilizing emerging technology to facilitate efficient reliable public safety response to best serve the communities of New Mexico.

Why does the job exist?

This position administers the E-911 fund and coordinates 911 functions between local governments, telecommunication companies, law enforcement agencies, and providers of fire and emergency medical services and will assist the team with the planning, assessment, preparation and execution of the modernization of the program to Next Generation 911 (NG911), capitalizing in the advancement of technology.

How does it get done?

The E-911 Program Coordinator position provides essential programmatic and financial support to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) throughout the State of New Mexico. This position is responsible for day-to-day E-911 program operations and will participate in grant application development and administration, developing program budgets, administering PSAP grant agreements, planning and monitoring PSAP capital projects, ensuring appropriate management of E-911 Program finances, working with E-911 service providers, participating in E-911-related procurements, managing and administering E-911 contracts.

Local public bodies which include counties and municipalities, Tribes and Pueblos throughout New Mexico.

Ideal Candidate

Prior experience working with state and federal rules, regulations, and programs preferred. Knowledge and experience with IT-related procurement and contract administration. Project management experience is desired. Experienced in emergency communications network operations with an advanced understanding of Enhanced-911 (E-911) and Next Generation 911 (NG911) systems and technologies.

Minimum Qualification

Associate's Degree and three (3) years of experience in program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Pre-employment criminal background check is required, and employment is conditional pending results.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is usually performed in an office setting, with extensive exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computer, tablet, printer, calculator, cellphone, copy machine, scanner, keyboard, and telephone usage. Occasional travel, working extra hours, working on weekends and holidays.
