The

Financial Controller

is a member of a high-performing Finance Team. The Financial Controller will be responsible for developing and overseeing the accounting infrastructure and managing the relationship with an outsourced accounting service provider for our growing restaurant group. This role requires a

strategic thinker

who can design and implement scalable accounting processes while also rolling up their sleeves to handle day-to-day financial operations. They are

experienced in building out an accounting department , managing

accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R) , and ensuring the company's financial health through strong reporting and controls. Summary of Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Oversight

Oversee and manage core accounting policies and procedures. Build and streamline

accounting processes

to support a growing restaurant business. Oversee

A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management

to ensure financial accuracy. Manage

month-end and year-end close processes , ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Oversee

fiscal year-end financial audit review process

and work with outsourced accounting service provider and external audit firm to ensure successful annual financial audits. Develop and maintain

cash flow forecasting

to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and growth. Partner with the Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis to monitor and provide ongoing variance analysis. Strategic Financial Leadership

Scale the accounting function without excessive resource dependencies in the near term. Implement

financial controls and best practices

to enhance efficiency and compliance. Partner with executive leadership to provide

financial insights

that drive business decisions. Ensure tax compliance, including

sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate filings . Operational & Team Management

Oversee

A/P and A/R functions , ensuring accuracy and timeliness in vendor payments and revenue collection. Create and refine

standard operating procedures (SOPs)

for financial operations. Work cross-functionally with

operations, HR, and supply chain

to optimize financial workflows. Evaluate and implement

financial software/tools

to improve automation and reporting capabilities. Physical Requirements

Must be able to read and understand written English, including system alerts, reports, and email communications. Must be able to communicate verbally in English for team meetings and vendor interactions. Must be able to work in an office environment that may occasionally be crowded during peak periods. Must be able to work at a computer to perform most duties. Ability to sit or stand for an extended period. Position Requirements

Experience & Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

(CPA certification is highly desirable). 5+ years of accounting/finance leadership experience , ideally in the restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit retail sector. Proven success in

building and scaling an accounting department

from the ground up. Ability to

balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution . Hands-on experience with

A/P, A/R, payroll, and financial reporting .

Technical & Analytical Skills:

Experience implementing

financial controls and process improvements . Proficiency with accounting systems and AP automation tools. Advanced Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs). Proficiency with financial reporting tools (e.g., Quicksight). Ability to analyze complex data and produce timely, accurate reports.

Process & Systems Management:

Proven track record in driving automation initiatives. Ability to coordinate with IT/systems engineering for seamless data integration and reporting.

Communication & Problem-Solving:

Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Strong attention to detail and proactive in resolving discrepancies. Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

Work Environment:

Ensures all endeavors and interactions with others align with Tatte’s brand purpose, mission and core values. Able to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced office environment. Based out of the Boston support team office. Willing to take on cross-functional responsibilities and collaborate with multiple teams.

Preferred Skills

Accounting principles, standards and systems. Data visualization & business intelligence (e.g., advanced Quicksight). Experience in entrepreneurial/multi-entity companies. CPA certification is highly preferred. Adaptability in fast-paced, complex environments. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication.
