The Student Life- RHC student employee will provide customer service and administrative support to students, employees and visitors requesting assistance and/or additional guidance. Students in this role will be generally trained on administrative tasks, customer service, and resources at Oakton Community Colleges. A typical day could include staffing front desk, answering phone and emails, assisting student clubs, providing event support, answering questions/directing students & visitors to the right place or completing a special project detailed by supervisor or staff. Campus Location: Skokie Length of Employment: Fall 2025-Spring 2026, with opportunity to renew in summer and into the following academic year. Can a student do homework in this position? Sometimes Hours Available: Morning coverage (9am start) from Monday- Thursday. 8-12 hours per week Schedule Flexibility: Flexible with schedule but with some consistency. Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities (TDRs) and Learning Outcomes: Complete onboarding/training with staff from SLCI (PF) Conduct daily routine to open or close the office including but not limited to: unlocking & locking doors, checking voicemail/mail, sorting campus mail, viewing schedule for the day, and wiping down tables in conference rooms. (PF) Perform assignments or tasks in a timely manner as outlines by the supervisor or staff. (PF, TC) Assist with preparations and set/up break down of events and activities in Student Life and the Center for Campus Inclusion and Diversity (PF, EI, TW, CD) Provide office support with general projects including but not limited to: typing, filing, scanning, copying, cash handling, posting and organizing supplies/materials (PF, TC) Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of paperwork containing personal and academic information. (PF) Refer students and visitors to proper offices/resources based on individual's need (PF, CM) Communicate with supervisor and staff regarding any challenges or issues that arise during each assignment or tasks and collaborate with staff in finding solutions. (CT, CD) Provide support and assistance in completing student orders for the Caring Closet. (TW) Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities or KSOAs): Must be a currently enrolled at Oakton College in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. Employment over the summer is allowed for students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer, or students continuing registration into the following Fall semester. Eligible to work in the United States. Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College. Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Demonstrated reliability and responsibility. Outgoing, flexible, organized, creative, respectful, and punctuality a must. Good communication and organizational skills. Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE). Demonstrated ability to work independently. Familiar with social media like Instagram, Facebook, to name a few.
