Job Summary: The Die Casting Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining die casting machinery to produce high-quality metal parts. This role involves setting up die and equipment, monitoring production, performing quality checks, and troubleshooting issues to ensure efficient and safe operations. Key Responsibilities: Operate die casting machines to produce parts from nonferrous metals (e.g., aluminum, zinc, magnesium) Set up die and adjust machine parameters based on part specifications Preheat and lubricate dies; monitor cooling systems Inspect finished castings for defects and ensure quality standards are met Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on die and casting equipment Document production output and machine performance Follow lockout/tagout procedures during cleaning and maintenance Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical issues Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment Qualifications Preferred Skills: Experience with cold-chamber and hot-chamber die casting machines Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team Work Environment Physical Conditions: High Temperatures:
Exposure to molten metals means to workspace can be hot, especially near casting machines. Noise Levels:
Machinery operation generates significant noise; hearing protection is often required. Heavy Machinery:
Technicians work around hydraulic presses, furnaces, and automated casting systems. Standing and Lifting:
Long periods of standing and frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs) are common.
