Description

This position preserves the credit union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral. The collector is responsible for initiating collection efforts on every delinquent loan. The collector ensures each contact is conducted in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner. The collector promotes the credit union philosophy and strives to maintain positive member relations. Must possess SCU product knowledge, service skills and a professional demeanor. Support SCU's sales and service standards and efforts. Must be able to work independently and as a team member.

Requirements

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current. Analyzes the financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. Monitors loans to ensure bankrupt members have adequate insurance coverage to protect collateral and the Credit Union's interests. Directs and assists legal counsel in bankruptcy court proceedings. Appears in bankruptcy court actions as needed. Monitors all attorney and bankruptcy accounts to ensure documents and legal proceedings are filed and followed up by legal counsel in a timely manner. Performs Skip Tracing Directs legal counsel in all court complaints and post judgment actions including garnishments, supplemental orders, and execution. Directs and assists with all repossession activity including locating borrower and collateral, handling in process repossessions and disposition of collateral after possession. Assists with foreclosure processing involving real property. Works with legal counsel to coordinate trustee sales, evictions, and title transfers to the Credit Union. Maintains accurate files and reports on all collection activity. Assists and informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans. Accurately and timely complete various monthly management reports Analyzes anticipated losses on delinquent accounts. Makes charge-off recommendations. Cross sells SCU products and services that would improve the member's slow payment activity and/or overdrawn account. Qualifications:

Three to five years of similar or related experience in Collections. A high school education or GED. Previous experience with financial institutions.

This is a full-time, non-exempt hybrid position with a starting annual pay of $26.00 hourly, depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
