LHH Recruitment Solutions has a Power Electronics Embedded Engineer for our client in the Raritan Township, NJ area.

This direct hire role focuses on research and development of projects including updates to existing materials. This hands-on, on-site role delves into product validation, hardware development, pre-certification testing, and firmware development including closed loop modeling.

This role will be responsible for creations of proposals, presentations to management and management of projects from start to finish. This role will also be responsible for designing 2-4-layer PCBs utilizing Altium. Must have experience in mixed-signal and high voltage layouts. This position will also require proven experience in interacting with UL and FCC standards. Candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience with a BS in Power Electronics, electrical/Computer Engineering or related Electronics Engineering. Salary range: $95,000 to $110,000 DOE.

Responsibilities: Building and refining closed-loop control models in MATLAB/Simulink and auto-generation of production-ready C code.

Tuning of digital compensators - PI/PID, state-space, predictive - for high-bandwidth control

Writing, optimize, and document bare-metal C for TI C2000 and other 32-bit MCUs.

Implementation of high-resolution PWM strategies for hard switched.

Interfacing firmware with gate-driver, current-sense, voltage-sense, and isolation circuitry

Characterization of converter efficiency, thermal performance, and dynamic response based on oscilloscope/logic-analyzer captures.

Design of 2- to 4-layer PCBs in Altium for mixed-signal and high-voltage layouts

Generation of detailed electrical specs, BOMs, and testing plans.

Collaborate and contribute to UL/IEC/CE compliance documentation and patent filings.

Lead design reviews and documents and compile case studies as needed.

Interface with suppliers and contract manufacturers to resolve DFM/DFA issues.

Support of field-failure analysis and sustainment engineering for products in volume production.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field, Master's degree a plus.

Three to five years' experience in Power Electronics Engineering

Circuit modeling and simulation experience (MATLAB, Simulink, Python) required.

Building and refining closed-loop control models in MATLAB/Simulink and auto-generation of production-ready C code.

Developing low-level drivers (ADC, PWM, timers, SPI, I²C, UART, RS-485, CAN, Ethernet) with deterministic execution and interrupt-safe design.

Must have experience in bring-up and debug prototypes with oscilloscopes, isolated differential probes, power analyzers, and high-bandwidth current probes.

Experience in authoring automated Python/LabVIEW scripts for regression tests and production programming.

Significant experience with Texas Instrument microcontrollers, C2000.

Experience with hardware design and schematic capture tools

Experience working with real-time operating systems

Experiencing working with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, and I2C

Exposure to Python programming

Experience with SCPI, LabVIEW, preferred
