Job Summary:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing workplace health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.This role ensures the organization fosters a safe work environment by conducting risk assessments, training employees on safety practices, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions to reduce hazards and improve safety performance.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety policies and procedures, and programs. Work with local, state, and federal agencies including OSHA to ensure compliance with all regulations and policies for health and safety standards. Plan and direct monthly safety training topics, safety onboarding including GHS training for new hires, and other safety-related training as required for all employees. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments throughout the facility. Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive measures. Analyze incident data and trends to implement proactive safety measures. Lead safety training programs and provide education to employees on workplace hazards, emergency procedures and safe work practices. Collaborate with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture. Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, including fire drills and evacuation procedures. Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and insurance providers. Collaborate with outside contractors to schedule monthly, quarterly, annual inspections, and service to safety systems as needed. Other duties, as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Associate degree in safety related field and/or equivalent experience Proven experience in industrial safety management preferably in manufacturing. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations. Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills. Analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Commitment to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
