Job Summary
The Buyer/Planner at Tadano Manitex is responsible for sourcing materials, managing inventory, and planning production schedules to meet demand forecasts and support equipment production. This role requires close coordination with suppliers, diligent inventory monitoring, and continuous optimization of procurement processes to achieve production goals. Key responsibilities include negotiating favorable terms with suppliers and ensuring that Tadano Manitex purchasing strategies align with budgetary targets and operational requirements. The Buyer/Planner is instrumental in driving cost-saving initiatives and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth, efficient supply chain operation.

Key Responsibilities Source and purchase raw materials, components, and supplies needed for production. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality. Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to achieve cost-effective procurement. Maintain strong supplier relationships to enhance collaboration and ensure consistent quality and service. Resolve any supplier issues, including delays, quality concerns, or contract discrepancies. Evaluate supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Analyze data related to demand forecasting, inventory levels, and procurement costs to support decision-making. Prepare regular reports on inventory status, supplier performance, and purchasing trends. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements. Monitor and manage inventory levels to balance demand with available stock, minimizing excess while avoiding shortages. Implement inventory control methods to optimize stock turnover and reduce carrying costs. Conduct regular cycle counts and analyze inventory discrepancies. Create and adjust production schedules based on demand and backlog, production capacity, and material availability. Coordinate with production teams to align materials with manufacturing timelines. Monitor and communicate any production delays or disruptions to stakeholders. Work closely with the production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations. Support new product development by coordinating with engineering and suppliers for necessary materials. Provide input on the design of ERP/MRP system improvements to enhance procurement and planning processes.
Qualification Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related filed highly preferred. High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing in a manufacturing environment; steel procurement preferred. Medium to expert level experience in MS Excel, beginner understanding of MS BI Experience with ERP/MRP systems required, experience with Epicor Vantage ERP System a plus. ISO 9001-2015 Standard (experience required) Able to read and interpret technical drawings and relate requirements to vendors. Well organized, detail-oriented, ability to work well under pressure and prioritize work. Must have a desire for achieving excellence in internal/external customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability
