As a leading Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry, we are committed to innovation, precision, and operational excellence. Our Arlington, TX facility is looking for a skilled Material Buyer to join our team. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, monitoring inventory levels, and working closely with purchasing, logistics, and production teams to prevent shortages and minimize excess inventory. Responsibilities: • Source and procure raw materials, components, and indirect supplies in alignment with production schedules and inventory targets. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers to ensure consistent quality, delivery, and cost performance. • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery delays, quality concerns, or pricing discrepancies. • Collaborate with production planning, logistics, and quality teams to ensure material availability and compliance with specifications. • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to optimize cost savings and service levels. • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier communications. • Analyze inventory levels and usage trends to forecast material needs and prevent shortages or excess. • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain and contribute to cost reduction strategies. • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and customer requirements (including GM-specific protocols). • Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management; Business, or related field preferred, or 3+ years of experience in material planning, production control, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment • Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex) and strong Excel skills. • Knowledge of just-in-time (JIT), lean manufacturing, and MRP principles. • Ability to lift 20 lbs. routinely and be able to stand for long periods of time • Working knowledge of operation procedures • Ability to pay attention to detail, multi-task and follow direction • Successful candidates will also possess strong judgment /decision making skills, problem solving and communication skills. • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
