Linux Engineering Manager -Trading Infrastructure
A globally leading systematic hedge fund is seeking a Linux Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and reliability of its core trading infrastructure. This team builds and supports the low-latency, high-performance Linux environments underpinning all critical trading, research, and data systems.
Are you ready to apply Make sure you understand all the responsibilities and tasks associated with this role before proceeding.
As a hands-on technical leader, you will manage a high-performing team of Linux and systems engineers, guiding the build out of cutting edge compute environments optimized for high-frequency and distributed trading workloads. You'll partner closely with trading, research, and development teams to ensure infrastructure stability, performance, and scalability across global regions.
Key Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and grow a global team of Linux engineers responsible for the firm’s high-performance compute and trading infrastructure. Own the evolution of the firm’s low-latency Linux stack, including kernel tuning, driver development, OS configuration, and performance diagnostics. Drive initiatives around automation, observability, and configuration management for thousands of production machines across data centre's Partner with internal trading and engineering teams to support mission-critical latency-sensitive applications and reduce time to resolution for infrastructure incidents. Oversee security hardening, system reliability, and global platform standardization across a diverse, multi-asset trading environment. Evaluate emerging infrastructure technologies and drive the adoption of tools that improve operational efficiency and system performance.
Required Experience & Skills: Extensive experience in Linux systems engineering, performance tuning, and systems-level debugging in ultra low-latency or high-availability environments. Prior leadership or management experience, with the ability to inspire and grow a team of senior technical engineers. Deep knowledge of Linux internals, including kernel subsystems, networking (TCP/UDP), memory management, process scheduling, and I/O. Proficiency with infrastructure automation and configuration tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet. Strong scripting ability in Python, Bash, or similar. Experience in supporting trading systems, financial exchanges, or other latency-sensitive platforms is a significant advantage. Familiarity with distributed systems, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), or modern CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
