Linux Engineering Manager -Trading Infrastructure
A globally leading systematic hedge fund is seeking a Linux Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and reliability of its core trading infrastructure. This team builds and supports the low-latency, high-performance Linux environments underpinning all critical trading, research, and data systems.
As a hands-on technical leader, you will manage a high-performing team of Linux and systems engineers, guiding the build out of cutting edge compute environments optimized for high-frequency and distributed trading workloads. You'll partner closely with trading, research, and development teams to ensure infrastructure stability, performance, and scalability across global regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a global team of Linux engineers responsible for the firm’s high-performance compute and trading infrastructure.
- Own the evolution of the firm’s low-latency Linux stack, including kernel tuning, driver development, OS configuration, and performance diagnostics.
- Drive initiatives around automation, observability, and configuration management for thousands of production machines across data centre's
- Partner with internal trading and engineering teams to support mission-critical latency-sensitive applications and reduce time to resolution for infrastructure incidents.
- Oversee security hardening, system reliability, and global platform standardization across a diverse, multi-asset trading environment.
- Evaluate emerging infrastructure technologies and drive the adoption of tools that improve operational efficiency and system performance.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Extensive experience in Linux systems engineering, performance tuning, and systems-level debugging in ultra low-latency or high-availability environments.
- Prior leadership or management experience, with the ability to inspire and grow a team of senior technical engineers.
- Deep knowledge of Linux internals, including kernel subsystems, networking (TCP/UDP), memory management, process scheduling, and I/O.
- Proficiency with infrastructure automation and configuration tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
- Strong scripting ability in Python, Bash, or similar.
- Experience in supporting trading systems, financial exchanges, or other latency-sensitive platforms is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), or modern CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
