The Sanitation Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Support Operations, leads a team of Sanitation Technicians to ensure the facilities and all food processing equipment are maintained in a sanitary and safe condition. This hands-on role requires frequent presence on the production floor and regular interaction with leadership for guidance and feedback.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruit, train, coach, and mentor sanitation team members. Conduct regular performance reviews and goal-setting sessions. Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers. Enforce all applicable Federal, State, and industry-specific Health and Safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety through training, awareness, and modeling safe behaviors— especially around chemical handling, PPE, and exposure risks. Maintain accurate documentation (e.g., , MSS, Chemical Inventory/Usage/Titrations, Pest Control Audits, Daily Tasks). Ensure compliance with FSQS policies, departmental SOPs, SSOPs, and safety protocols. Conduct routine facility inspections to identify sanitation opportunities. Perform annual SSOP audits to ensure accuracy and relevance. Lead and support investigations, Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), and Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts. Provide leadership during emergencies and ensure personnel accountability. Execute all duties in alignment with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, reporting food safety concerns to QA and Production Leadership and completing CAPAs as needed. Maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). Verify completion of sanitation tasks via the CMMS platform. Collaborate with QA, Production, and Maintenance to align sanitation with production and quality goals. Enforce GMP and safety policies to uphold high cleanliness standards. Implement and monitor allergen control procedures to prevent cross-contamination. Support Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP) through swabbing coordination and corrective actions. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE) 3+ years of experience in sanitation within a food manufacturing or processing environment. 3+ years of supervisory experience Understanding of microbiology, OSHA compliance, food laws, pest control, HACCP, and baking industry practices. Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Proficiency in basic math and MS Office applications. (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Working knowledge of food safety. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proven success in leading teams.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE) Expert knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe usage thereof Expert knowledge of HACCP and SQF programs Proficient understanding of basic financial skills and understanding Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb, balance, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 - 25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, team members are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and chemical-exposed environments Handle items that may be very hot. Noise level is usually moderate.
Note: This is a highly hands-on role with minimal desk work. The supervisor is expected to be actively present on the production floor, working closely with the sanitation team in a fast-paced environment.
