Uplift Local is a nonprofit news organization dedicated to participatory journalism and community storytelling. We offer free, relevant local news and initiatives, empowering community members across Oregon and Washington to shape how they access and engage with information. To ensure long-term sustainability, we're launching a tiered membership program. This program aims to convert readers and donors into active members, deepen community connections, and build a culture of ongoing engagement and support. We're excited to find a contractor to work with our lead membership consultant. You'll help coordinate and implement a new bilingual membership program that supports donor retention, enhances member engagement across three tiers, and drives giving during Uplift Local’s Fall and NewsMatch campaigns. This consultant will collaborate closely with Uplift Local leadership to coordinate events, develop engagement materials, and implement a membership landing page and campaign strategy with our team and Board. Proficiency in Spanish and English is a big plus! Phase 1: Campaign and Infrastructure Prep

Key Deliverables and Activities: Work with the Uplift Local team to coordinate the Fall email campaign (draft and send four appeal emails + one thank-you email) tied to organizational updates. Finalize member tier goals and outline a plan to track impact and engagement. Research and make final recommendations on swag. Collaborate on membership landing page design and development (copy, layout, benefits by tier). Assist with event coordination and outreach for donor house parties (using existing scripts and guest lists) in the Columbia River Gorge and Portland metro area. Support Zoho event invitation tests and assist with basic CRM data review (Zoho-specific experience not required). Create a simple event leave-behind and draft membership welcome language for new members. Timeline:

August-October (Approx 5 hrs/week) Phase 2: Membership Program Launch and NewsMatch

Key Deliverables and Activities: Work with the Uplift Local team to coordinate and execute Uplift Local’s NewsMatch campaign, ensuring donor communications align with membership launch.

Draft and send up to 15 appeal emails throughout the campaign. Draft and post up to 10 social media posts throughout the campaign. Work closely with a designer on assets needed for appeals and social media.

Work with the lead consultant to implement post-event follow-up systems (thank-yous, next steps, and invitations to host future gatherings). Provide basic tracking of campaign metrics and audience engagement to inform ongoing membership efforts. Timeline:

$75–$95/hour, depending on experience Budget: Total Estimate:

~$10,500 – $13,300 depending on rate and final hours used
