Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Transportation Dispatch Supervisor / Specialist to coordinate and monitor daily LTL and FTL truck movements between our distribution hubs and regional facilities. This role is key to ensuring timely, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of freight while maintaining strong relationships with drivers, carriers, and warehouse teams.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily truck dispatch operations for both LTL and FTL shipments, ensuring on-time pick-ups and deliveries between warehouses and distribution centers.
- Assign loads, schedule drivers, and optimize routes based on volume, deadlines, and cost efficiency.
- Coordinate with carriers, drivers, and warehouse staff to address delays, equipment issues, or last-minute changes.
- Track shipments in real time using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or dispatch software.
- Monitor performance metrics such as on-time percentage, load utilization, and transit times.
- Maintain accurate load records, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
- Assist with cost control by selecting cost-effective carriers and negotiating competitive rates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Provide basic guidance to junior dispatchers or coordinators as needed.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in truck dispatch or transportation coordination, preferably with both LTL and FTL shipments.
- Business-level proficiency in English and Mandarin is highly preferred due to the nature of the role involving frequent communication with Mandarin-speaking clients or partners.
- Familiarity with U.S. trucking market practices, freight rates, and carrier options.
- Experience with TMS, routing software, or GPS tracking tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with drivers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Basic knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance is a plus.
