Position Details

Note: This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
  2. Examine and analyze body fluids and cells; match blood for transfusions.
  3. Familiarity with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for maintaining blood products.
  4. Analyze chemical content of fluids and test for drug levels in blood.
  5. Prepare specimens, count cells, and identify abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
  6. Analyze test results and communicate findings to physicians.
  7. Culture body fluids and tissue samples to detect microorganisms.
  8. Conduct chemical analyses to determine concentrations of compounds like glucose and cholesterol.
  9. Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and monitor testing programs for accuracy.
  10. Use universal safety precautions to protect against biohazards, including blood-borne pathogens.
  11. Order and stock supplies; maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  12. Maintain patient records, manage lab equipment, and oversee lab operations as needed.
  13. Provide supervision or act as Lead for the lab, guiding other technologists and technicians.
  14. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certification by AMT, ASCP, or NCA.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • At least five years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Minimum one year in a Lead role.
  • Recent clinical experience in direct patient care within the last 6 months.
  • Ability to multitask, be detail-oriented, organized, and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shift changes and operational needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English communication skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
  • Work primarily in an interior/office environment.
  • Sitting and standing for extended periods.
