Job Description

The Senior Accountant will oversee and manage accounting functions within the insurance firm, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include detailed financial analysis, preparation of financial statements, and collaboration with various departments to support financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will have extensive accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and in-depth knowledge of insurance industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor budget variances and provide insights for financial planning.
    • Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives.
  3. General Ledger Management:
    • Oversee general ledger functions and ensure proper reconciliation of accounts.
    • Perform month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations.
  4. Internal Controls:
    • Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal policies.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
  5. Insurance Accounting:
    • Handle premium accounting, claims reserves, and reinsurance transactions.
    • Analyze underwriting results and provide financial insights to management.
    • Support actuarial functions with accurate financial data.
  6. Team Leadership:
    • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve financial objectives.
    • Provide training on accounting policies and procedures.
  7. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills.
