Reporting to the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for performing the full range of in vivo and in vitro Nuclear Medicine procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and related chemical substances. Responsible for providing quality patient care, including timely throughput of patients and performing their exams. Operates and performs quality control on stationary and portable scintillation equipment such as gamma cameras, Geiger-Mueller counters, well counters, dose calibration devices, and ancillary equipment. Performs PET, Nuc Med, and CT diagnostic studies on PET/CT scanners, including injection of CT Contrast Media, image acquisition, and reformatting. Responsible for performing scans and procedures to support scanner qualification for research trials. Creates and programs study-specific protocols including administration, imaging, and reformatting under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and Medical Director.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Customer service skills appropriate to the role
- Knowledge of State regulatory radiation safety practices and ALARA principles
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to provide on-call / call-back service as needed
- Minimum one year of full-time experience as a CNMT
- Essential skills, knowledge, and abilities for the role
- Current BLS certification
- Active State of California CNMT License
- Active NMTCB and/or AART (N) licensure for Nuclear Medicine
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of full-time experience performing Nuclear Medicine procedures
- Knowledge of university and medical center policies, procedures, and organizational structure
