We are looking for talented and highly-motivated individuals who demonstrate a natural desire to support the meaningful work of community oncologists and the patients we serve.Job Description:The Medical Assistant is responsible for gathering and documenting patient screening data for the Los Angeles Cancer Network (OneOncology affiliated medical practice). This role provides patients with safe, quality care throughout their treatment and disease process under the direction of the Provider or the oversight of a direct supervisor.ResponsibilitiesTakes and properly documents Vitals in the EMRReports changes in patient's physical status to the mid-level practitionerReviews and record medical history including current medicationsPerform phlebotomy and basic laboratory tests; prepare specimens for transport to laboratoryAccurately document in the EMR systemTrains new hires on process and procedures of the practice.Administers injectionsAssists in minor proceduresReviews physician orders, lab requests or follow-up needs with patientsMaintains supplies and cleanliness of examination roomsEnsures maintenance of patient confidentialityDemonstrates exceptional customer service skills in the performance of work assignments and dutiesKey CompetenciesStrong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Demonstrates exceptional assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skillsAbility to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stressesAbility to seek out resources independently and work collaborativelyAbility to collaborate, set priorities, and organize work to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, policies, and regulationsAbility to multitask efficientlyAbility to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership, and othersQualificationsCompletion of an accredited medical assistant program with certificationCurrent CPR certificationBilingual in Spanish/English (preferred)Phlebotomy skillsPrevious Oncology/ Hematology experience preferredSalary Transparency:Base Salary Range: $21.00 to $24.00 per hourExact compensation may vary based on skills, education, certifications, experience, and location.
