Salary: $22.02 HourlyLocation : Various locations in Golden Valley, MNJob Type: Seasonal/TemporaryJob Number: 2025-47Department: LegalOpening Date: 08/11/2025Closing Date: 9/18/2025 11:59 PM Central Summary of PositionThis position assists the City Clerk in the planning, administration, and execution of various duties in connection with the local, county, state, and national elections. The Elections Assistant role is scheduled to start in mid-September and end in mid-November. Hours of work will be intermittent with increased hours around key election dates. Currently two positions are available on the Elections Team.This position will be open until filled; priority candidate consideration is based on the following application dates:First Round of Candidate Consideration: 08/18/2025Second Round of Consideration: 08/25/2025Third Round of Consideration: 09/02/2025Fourth Round of Consideration: 09/08/2025Expected Hours of WorkThis position requires a two-month commitment, with specific dates and times that must be covered. Hours can range from 7:45 am to 5:15 pm Monday-Friday. Hours are extended as Election Day approaches, including some weekend shifts. Employees must have responsive availability during this time to accommodate statutorily required responsibilities. Because of the short-term nature of this position, employees must commit to the duration of the appointment.From mid-September through mid-October, applicants should expect to work approximately 20-25 hours per week. From mid-October through Election Day, hours will increase to approximately 30-35 hours per week, and will include working on Saturday, November 1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these essential functions:Assist voters in obtaining an absentee ballot by entering and/or proofing data in computer system.Attend election training as required to help in the administration of election services for the City.Answer general inquiries from the public about voting locations, voter registration, absentee voting, and information about elected officials and candidates.Assist voters with in-person absentee voting and early voting.Serve as a member of the Absentee Ballot Board.Assist with election equipment testing to ensure accuracy of equipment.Assist with ordering and packing precinct election supplies.Assist with election judge recruitment, assignments, training, and processing timesheets.Type and/or update correspondence, reports, forms and training materials.Provide on-site assistance to Golden Valley polling locations on Election Day.Perform other general clerical duties including data entry, copying, scanning, filing, and assembling documents.Operate general office equipment such as telephone, personal computer, copier, printer, scanning equipment, and/or calculator.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Minimum and Desired Qualifications Minimum QualificationsHigh School graduation or equivalent.Two years clerical work experience in an office environment with significant customer contact.Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).
