Bus Driver
Salary: $20.09/In Accordance with the AFSCME Local 2722 Master Agreement
Reports To: Transportation Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid driver's license with CDL and BP & S endorsements
  • Must not have more than 2 points on driver's license
  • Must have at least TIP (temporary instruction permit) for driving school bus
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • One year prior bus driving experience preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and maps
  • Will be subject to a pre-hire physical including lumbar - 5 view spine series
  • Will be subject to yearly physical
  • Will be subject to random Drug and Alcohol Screening Test pursuant to Federal Regulation and Board Policy
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Drive and/or operate assigned vehicle.
  • Be responsible for safety and upkeep of vehicle assigned, including fueling of the buses.
  • Maintain a clean and uncluttered bus at all times.
  • Emergency evacuate as needed or as required.
  • Adherence to Core Competencies. (see attached)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performing a pre-trip of the bus at least once per day, more as required.Drive a school bus in all weather
  • conditions including daylight and darkness.
  • Put in writing any needed repairs of the bus
  • Assure compliance with all DO, State, Federal, District and Department requirements/guidelines/laws.
  • Report any traffic violations and/or civil infractions to immediate Supervisor within 24 hours of Incident.
  • Report any accident involving the bus immediately; before moving bus.
  • Control students and situations on the school bus including putting in writing any unacceptable bus conduct.
  • Attend Beginning and/or Michigan School Bus Driver Continuing Education Classes every two years as required.
  • Arrive for work at scheduled time or report absence in a timely fashion to allow for a sub to be contacted.
  • Check bus for any students at the end of each shift and/or before leaving bus.
EMPLOYMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee will sometimes push/pull items.
  • The employee will be required to bend/climb stairs and possibly jump (out of rear door).
  • The employee may experience a constant bouncing while driving because of the air seat.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outdoors even in inclement weather.
  • The employee must complete the route on time.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
  • Emergency vehicles, heavy traffic and addressing student behavior is a daily occurrence.

LENGTH OF DAY : Schedule to be set by the immediate supervisor
