Maintenance Technician
As a Maintenance Technician at Silverfern North, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep to ensure the comfort and well-being of our residents. Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as HVAC system checks, plumbing repairs, and electrical work. Address and promptly resolve maintenance requests and issues from residents and staff. Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards or safety concerns. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including fire safety and emergency procedures. Maintain and repair common appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, and dishwashers. Coordinate with Maintenance Director for more extensive repairs or replacements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and inspections. Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
Grounds and Exterior Maintenance:
Maintain cleanliness of the exterior of the community, including landscaping, walkways, and parking areas. Perform snow removal, lawn care, and general upkeep of outdoor spaces.
Painting and Carpentry:
Perform minor carpentry work, such as repairing cabinets, doors, and windows. Touch up paint and assist with larger painting projects as needed.
Emergency Response:
Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly, including evenings and weekends, to ensure the safety and comfort of residents. Maintain an on-call schedule as required.
Teamwork:
Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, housekeeping staff, and management to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment. Attend team meetings and participate in training sessions.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or vocational training in maintenance is a plus. Previous maintenance experience, preferably in a senior living or hospitality setting. Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Strong problem-solving and technical skills. Ability to lift, carry, and operate heavy equipment and perform physical tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
