Job Overview: The City of El Reno is seeking a motivated and skilled IT Systems Administrator to support and maintain the citys technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, servers, networking equipment, and software critical to city operations, including support for public safety departments and municipal broadband services. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, desktop computers, and operating systems. Monitor system performance and perform regular maintenance to ensure high availability and reliability. Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies within Active Directory and other systems. Configure and maintain network routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and ensure secure and stable communication between systems. Assist in maintaining fiber and wireless networking infrastructure across city facilities. Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for city staff including hardware, software, and printer issues. Respond to and resolve technical support tickets in a timely and professional manner. Maintain an inventory of IT assets and assist with lifecycle management of equipment. Support special IT projects involving the Police and Fire Departments, including systems unique to public safety (e.g., CAD/RMS, body camera systems, mobile data terminals). Collaborate on technology upgrades, software deployments, and department-specific initiatives. Broadband Support: Assist El Reno Fast Connect broadband customers with trouble calls and technical issues. Coordinate with the broadband team to resolve service interruptions or equipment failures at customer premises. Qualifications: Required: High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in IT system and network administration. Proficiency in Windows Server environments, networking fundamentals, and desktop support. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to 50 lbs), and access networking closets or server racks. Preferred: Experience with public sector or municipal IT environments. Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, Extreme, and Ubiquiti networking equipment. Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox), and backup solutions. Experience supporting first responder technologies (e.g., 911 systems, vehicle MDTs, body-worn camera software). Seniority level
