Pastry Chef
Join the premier culinary team at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where art and gastronomy come together to create unforgettable guest experiences. As a Pastry Chef, you will bring your creativity, precision, and passion for fine pastry to one of Boston's most iconic cultural landmarks. In this role, you are responsible for the preparation, production, and ordering for the pastry department, ensuring each creation reflects the museum's standard of perfection. You will lead all aspects of the handling, preparation, and storage of perishable products, adhering to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe, and sanitary food production, preparation, and presentation. Additional responsibilities include menu development, inventory management, ordering, sanitation, and managing hourly associates, including hiring, counseling, mentoring, and development. Key Responsibilities:
Prepares, produces, and orders for the pastry department Handles, prepares, and stores perishable products Adheres to HACCP guidelines to ensure efficient, safe, and sanitary food production Preferred Qualifications:
Culinary degree is preferred Minimum three years related experience in upscale, high-volume restaurant and/or catering operations Ability to demonstrate creative and quality-driven pastry skills Must have good food knowledge and recognition of quality product Strong knowledge of current food and catering trends with a focus on using seasonal ingredients, production, sanitation, food cost controls, menu development, and presentation Excellent overall computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus Compass Group is an equal opportunity employer.
