Job Summary
Under administrative supervision, the purpose of this position is to provide customer service to patrons and maintains the library's materials and collection, and assists with library programs and other duties as assigned. Must be available to work nights and weekends. Part Time PT (10-19 hours weekly) Essential Job Functions
Aids in the circulation of library materials including shelving and shelf maintenance. Processing of new items. Provides backup assistance at the circulation desk. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of all reference and circulation policies and procedures. Aid in organizing city archives. Assists with library programs and displays Promotes library services and programs through the development of displays and bulletin boards, flyers, bibliographies, and other types of publicity. Compiles statistical information on areas of service. Assists Reference Librarian in reference questions, answering phones, and general public interaction Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma and GED Bilingual English-Spanish highly preferred. Knowledge of and experience using integrated library system software and online resources and databases. Knowledge of and experience using personal computers, e-books, mobile devices, etc Ability to maintain confidentiality of library patron information. Ability to perform basic reference work, material selection, cataloging, and classification. Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain and foster cooperative and courteous working relationship with peers and supervisor. Strong customer service skills.
