Job Title
You will be responsible for the administrative and technical supervision of a medium size workforce consisting of ND and NT employees of various engineering, scientific, and technical backgrounds. You will need to have general multi-disciplinary knowledge in the areas of mechanical and systems engineering to manage employees performing the work of the branch. You will plan, establish, direct and maintain the effectiveness and safety of personnel and facilities. You will provide technical and management oversight and day-to-day supervision of employees to ensure delivery and quality of products assigned to their organization. You will ensure that technical and business processes within their branch are operating effectively and address any issues as they arise. You will perform workforce-to-workload assessments to identify technical skill short falls and skill imbalances to be addressed via personnel development, department hiring and/or contract actions. You will develop a skilled workforce by the creation of individual development and career plans, training opportunities, and employee mentoring. You will lead Department strategic initiatives and support Division Newport Strategic initiatives. You will be assigned financial procurement authority, authority to approve official time and authority to approve travel authorizations and vouchers. You will provide technical expertise, software engineering, system engineering and program management, over the full spectrum of assigned projects. You will provide the technical expertise and software engineering competency spans the NUWCDIVNPT "bridge" from science and technology, product and systems development, production and acquisition, test/evaluation, and direct Fleet in-service support.
