The Nevada State Public Health Laboratory is seeking a qualified candidate to join our Newborn Screening Program as either a Statewide Specialist or Statewide Coordinator, depending on experience and qualifications. This vital position supports newborn health statewide by managing screening and follow-up for more than 63 disorders and 45 genetic conditions. The successful candidate will collaborate with hospitals, medical professionals, and families to ensure timely communication of abnormal results and facilitate swift coordination with clinical specialists for confirmatory testing and treatment. This includes tracking clinician-parent interactions, arranging specialist care, and providing guidance to improve health outcomes. This position also supports quality improvement by reviewing data, overseeing sample collection processes, and ensuring program efficiency. At the Coordinator level, responsibilities expand to include case management of the most complex and critical cases, such as metabolic disorders, and providing clinician consultation and parental education. Required Qualifications Statewide Specialist Bachelor's Degree and two years of related work experience OR Master's Degree and one year of related work experience Statewide Coordinator Bachelor's Degree and four years of related work experience OR Master's Degree and two years of related work experience Related Experience: public health, genetics, dietetics, pediatric nursing and/or newborn screening Required Certification and Licensure: Nevada driver's license Schedule/Travel Requirements: occasional travel, variable work schedule which may involve after hours or holidays Compensation Grade Specialist - B Coordinator - C The total compensation package includes a competitive salary, moving allowance (if applicable), a rich retirement plan, health insurance options that include dental and vision, life insurance, thirty (30) days of sick leave provided upon start date and two (2) days of sick leave accrued per full month after the first year of service, two (2) days of annual leave accrued each full month, along with many other benefits.
