Associate Professor

The orthodontic program exists in a rich environment within a prestigious academic health center, a superb public university located in a growing, culturally diverse metropolitan city. The outstanding clinician, educator, and scientist will be expected to develop independent, and sustainable teaching commitment and research programs. Candidates with ABO certified or eligible for ABO certification are preferable. This clinician will be focused on innovative clinical and translational research to advance orthodontics in the 21st century. Almost all the dental specialties are represented at the College, and all are involved in the pre-doctoral student curriculum, so having experience teaching pre-doctoral and graduate orthodontics is highly desirable. This clinician will have strong knowledge on modern technology and a track record of securing extramural research funds is highly desirable. The successful clinician will fully participate in the division's activities. Rank will be determined by applicant's qualifications and experience. Candidates with a diverse background are encouraged to apply. Educational requirements: a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or equivalent degree, advanced education in orthodontics (Master of Science (MS) or certificate), and PhD degree in biomedical sciences with good records of publications and experience in grant writing. Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service, and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience. To be considered, please submit your application electronically via Workday. Application materials must include: cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research, and statement of teaching and mentoring. Evaluation of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Salary, administrative augmentation, and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications. Candidates should submit a personal statement that delineates professional qualifications and career goals, along with curriculum vitae and three professional references.
