Housing Shelter Attendant

Perform a wide variety of functions to ensure the safety, security and well being of the shelter residents as well as the building. Performs a variety of housekeeping duties including sweeping, moping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning of bathrooms to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the shelter. Key responsibilities: Monitors client's day to day activities including scheduling and inventorying passes, taking of prescribed medication, and resident's general whereabouts Coordinates with community partners, such as behavioral health teams and church feeding programs, that come to the shelter to deliver supportive services. Become fully knowledgeable of shelter policies and procedures to answer client questions and ensure policies are followed. Sets up and prepares sleeping and dining areas for clients prior to shelter opening. What we are looking for in you: One year vocational/technical school degree and six months experience; OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge and skills and abilities. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to lift light objects weighing less than 24 pounds. Work is performed in a shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
