Sous Chef – The Peckish Pig (Evanston, IL)
The Peckish Pig, a beloved European-influenced pub on the Evanston/Chicago border, is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join our team. Known for elevated comfort food, an expansive patio, and a strong neighborhood following, we’re looking for a culinary professional ready to step into a leadership role and grow with us.

Now in our 11th year, The Peckish Pig offers a seasonal, European-inspired menu in a relaxed setting with a full bar and cocktail program. Our large patio and steady stream of private events and catering make us a vibrant part of the community.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef with:
- At least 2 years of experience in fast-paced, full-service kitchens
- Strong inventory management and ordering skills
- Interest in contributing to menu development and rotating specials
- A basic command of Spanish (minimum)
- Leadership ability and comfort managing a small kitchen team from prep to execution
- A valid food handler’s certification
- A passion for hospitality, food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Availability to work Sundays and Mondays required (+open availability preferred)
- Willingness to enforce food safety and sanitation standards
Open to full- or part-time for the right candidate.
HOURS OF OPERATION:
- Dinner: Sun–Thurs: 4:30–9:00 pm | Fri–Sat: 4:30–9:30 pm
- Brunch/Lunch: Sat & Sun: 10:30 am–2:30 pm
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Salary: $49,000–$56,000/year (based on experience)
- Hourly/Part-time option available for the right candidate
