Amoura Restaurant is a family-owned, full-service Mediterranean restaurant located in the heart of South San Francisco. Known for our bold flavors, warm hospitality, and commitment to quality, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team.
This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with our Executive Chef to help lead day-to-day kitchen operations, ensure high standards, and contribute to the continued evolution of our menu and kitchen culture.
- Collaborate directly with our Executive Chef to execute daily service for BOH and preparation throughout the day, maintaining accurate and reasonable timelines and work schedule for cooks and prep team
- Assist in the development and implementation of new menu items
- Demonstrate expertise in various cooking techniques and maintain consistent quality across every dish
- Communicate effectively to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken directions
- Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen assistants, fostering a positive work environment, motivating kitchen staff, and providing constructive feedback
- Develop and maintain an inventory of food and supplies, prepare lists, and place orders
- React quickly and effectively to unplanned operational needs, while remaining calm under pressure
- Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations, with assistance in walk-ins and dry storage
- Motivate, lead, and delegate tasks to the kitchen team to ensure smooth kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef
4+ years of professional kitchen experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
- Can work effectively 10-12 shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for Mediterranean cuisine
- Calm, organized, and solutions-oriented — especially under pressure
- Ability to give and receive feedback in a constructive, respectful manner
- Strong communication skills and a team-first mentality
- ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain)
