Air Reserve Technician (ART) Position

As an Air Reserve Technician (ART), accomplishes a variety of duties involving assisting in determining unit's readiness and capability to perform its peacetime/wartime mission, to support programs and systems which ensure reserve members are properly trained and equipped, to provide peacetime/wartime medical support, and to provide training to reserve members in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. Duties: Provides direct support to the senior ART in planning, directing, implementing, and controlling all elements of the medical unit on a day-to-day basis. Provides support toward conducting studies, collecting data and identifying trends. Assists in reviewing status of training and personnel assets for Status of Resource and Training System (SORTS) reporting/Annual Tour. Responsible for tracking of unit funds and medical/non-medical supply expenditures and activities. Responsible for effective management and execution of unit personnel programs. Monitors compliance with medical requirements to ensure timely completion and medical qualification of assigned personnel. Requirements: U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join. A security clearance may be required. If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement. Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov. Total salary varies depending on location of position. This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program. Position may be subject to random drug testing. Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Shift work and emergency overtime may be required. Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Miscellaneous Clerk and Assistant Series 0303. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes assisting in maintaining medical records; providing assistance in gathering data; conducting studies to improve effectiveness; and efficiency of medical functions. Note: Must be reflected in your resume. OR Education: Completed 1 full year of progressively higher-level graduate which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. You must submit a copy of college transcripts. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Air Force Reserve medical service mission, organization, programs, and functions to include aspects of carrying out unit's medical training and administrative program to ensure medical mission can be effectively accomplished. Knowledge of practices, procedures, and methods used to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of responsible medical programs. Knowledge of medical and administrative programs throughout the Air Force Reserve in order to conduct studies, analyze findings, and make recommendations on substantive program changes within the unit. Knowledge of a military command structure and medical administrative concepts, theories, procedures and techniques, as well as a specialized knowledge of wartime medical operations and missions. Knowledge of Air Force medical planning and programming concepts and a thorough knowledge of unit's medical mission, equipment specifications (Allowance Standards) and operational parameters. Skill and ability to prepare project/staff reports and deliver briefings to high level officials both civilian and military. Skill in meeting with the public, presenting briefings and working with others. Ability to plan, organize, and communicate both orally and in writing. Other Significant Facts: The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30% of total responsibilities. Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Assumes responsibility of the supervisor, in their absence. Incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty (TDY) assignments. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
